Pre-birthday blogpost

Now, as many of you know (or can see on my profile), my birthday is coming up...

And I just had this idea for people who don't know what to get me (not that I'm saying you should get me anything... but it's nice, you know), who don't have the money to spend on something that I might not even need, like or want, people who just like this idea, people who love me so much they want to do this on top of what they'd already planned, or anyone else, for that matter...

You see, as I'm slowly leading my life more and more apart from my parents' house and life, I'm beginning to think about my life away from them... and realising that when I'm moving out (which shall hopefully be next Summer; at least 'part time', for school reasons) I'm not going to have as much money or time to spend on going out and seeing friends (I count spending all my spare time on social websites as a real social life, too - but internet can be expensive) as much as I might want to.

Sooooo, with this little thingy (that may last until whenever after my birthday, really) I would like to get enough personal things from my friends to make some kind of wall art thingy to put on the wall wherever I might be moving to - and you'll all be with me all the time! <3

So here's the deal:

I would feel great if you all send me a photo.
Not just any photo, but a photo that reminds you of me, or describes me in any way you find suitable for me. Preferably some photo I'm not in.

And if you want to make something yourself, feel absolutely free to do so - I love anything arty!

Second part is, that you put a little text along with it, telling me why you chose that photo. And well, anything else you would like to tell me, really ;p

Anyone who feels like doing this, whether you know me very well or not at all, surprise me!

How about song titles?

Would it be legal to use song titles of existing songs as a title to a blog post?

I always feel a strong connection to songs in several situations in my life... Do a lot of people get that?

So my exams have ended today... They went pretty good except for the last one, which I couldn't really concentrate on because a really dear friend of mine had decided to end her life last Friday. Needless to say studying wasn't the first thing on my mind.
I feel like I haven't told her so much I still needed to say... And I'm not quite sure about how I will now that she's not physically there anymore... I have tried writing letters to people I know that have died, but there's not way to be sure they really can get to hear any of the things you'd like them to...
Is there any way there is anyone here who has find a way that made them believe it worked? 'Cause I'd really like to know...

It's always so strange to grasp the fact that a person you love won't be there anymore...
She won't be able to celebrate Christmas with us like she used to, or birthdays, random parties, festivals... And at this moment there's no way to know how anyone in our group of friends will react on any of those occasions... but it will be hard for sure...
Then again, in a way I am happy that she has found peace and won't feel any pain anymore... I hope she can really rest in peace now and that, someday, we will be together again...

After my exam today I had quite a hard time, so some other friends tried to cheer me up, and even though in the beginning it didn't really work all that well, but after a while I could smile again and remembered that I have so many other friends to cherish - because at times like these you realise that even though you love people, you never let them know you do frequently enough.

So spread the love, hang out with your friends and enjoy every moment - you never know that it might be the last one...

I know this wasn't a really good post, but it said what was on my mind...

PS. One of the things we did today to get my mind off of things, was going to see 'The Social Network'. It was a really nice distraction, and I liked the way the story was told. It does bother me a little bit that I don't know what was real and what wasn't... Plus, I would've liked to know what happened after the last 'flashback' bit...
Anyway, good film to see when you have nothing else to do, or to get your mind off of things.
AND, it has Jesse Eisenberg, which is a BIG plus. I love seeing him act.

First of all, I need to update more frequently, and I need more originality in my titles.

That said, off to the real deal.

Apparently, my health can't seem to deal with graduate school. Apart from being so tired I could sleep non-stop for 5 days (I'm not even kidding), my body has now decided to catch an infection which also keeps me in bed for over a week already.
Not only that, but it causes me to miss my last week before my first assessment period. Yay for infections.

All of this while I could've been outside taking wonderful photographs, 'cause the weather is amazing (photowise) [It kinda sucks otherwise, 'cause it makes people ill ;p]

I surely hope I will be better by Friday, because, as most of you will know, that's when the best weekend of the year starts.
I FRIGGIN LOVE HALLOWEEN! :)
Yet, due to being ill, I haven't been able to work on a proper outfit yet, and time is running out... Let's make the best out of it, I guess. At least, if I'm able to even go out this weekend, 'cause honestly, I'm sick of laying in bed all day. Luckily, I have this amazing invention called a laptop to keep me busy.

Anyway, I'm SO excited to hear about other people's plans and outfits for this year's festivities, so let me know when you read this! That way, even if I won't be able to go, I can still imagine all of you having fun in a crazy, freaky, horrific way ;p

10 things I liked most last... 2 weeks :p

Hello sweethearts…
I’ve been telling you a long time, but here’s the newest 10 things I liked most blog… I’ve started them again a while ago on netlog, and since I got some very nice comments on there I decided to start them here again too…
Apart from that, my life has been going rather slowly, school and everything as it should be, which is a nice change. Can you guys imagine that I haven’t stayed home from school ‘cause of exhaustion once this year? Pretty amazing, right? Well, I guess I should just get things started up again…
Soooo, here we go… With some random extracts from my pretty amazing life… :p

1. Ride with the Devil.
I’ve been looking for this film by Ang Lee for years now, so the fact that I finally own it is worth this week’s number one for me! I just love the scenery, the actors (like Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Tobey Maguire, I mean, come on), the time and of course, the story. Just the combination of the American Civil War with all the feelings the (pretty diverse, to be honest) characters get… It got to me all those years ago (Gosh, I sound so old now xD)

2. Starbuck Antwerp.
We finally got our own Starbucks in Antwerp! Knowing myself and my friends, it was about time. In the first few days it was there, I went there every day, even after school, which isn’t in Antwerp, so I guess I proved my point. I’m such a coffee addict that I’m glad spending the time and money that it needs to get some Starbucks! For those of you who didn’t discover the wonderful world of Starbucks yet, get your arse up and go find some! For those of you who did, keep up the good work! 

3. Oscar Wilde action figure.
February went by like a rollercoaster ride and before I knew it, I was yet another year older… leaving the teenage years behind and starting my twenties… Luckily, other things, like the fact that I have the most amazing friends with the craziest ideas for birthday presents, haven’t changed as much. This amazing figurine is proof! The little plastic doll of one of my all-time favourite writers comes in a box which contains more information about him, as well as some of his most famous quotes.

4. 18th century Belgian jacket.
Okay so, just how cool is it that, when you are randomly surfing the website of The Metropolitan Museum of Art for some nice historical clothing ideas, you just happen to bounce into a jacket that was actually worn in your own country? Sure, if I was born in the United States, it wouldn’t have been that big of a deal, but I mean, Belgium!!! We are like one of the smallest countries in the world, that no one usually knows off except for when it comes to waffles, beer or chocolate. I was dumbfounded and sat here with an open mouth for about 13.5 minutes. Then I decided this was definitely worth a place in my top 10 this week? And so it made place 4…

5. Edgar Allan Poe finger doll.
Of course, as if one present would be enough for the likes of my beloved Leigh… Next to the amazing action figure of Wilde, she also came up with this nearly as amazing finger doll of Poe, another writer which is pretty high on my favourites scale. Random fact about the doll: it also has a little magnet inside his head, so you can also use our beloved friend Edgar as a fridge magnet! xD

6. Trans Am.
Gah… Here I go again with another dream car… A Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is another car that I would love to have in my possession… Probably just another dream that won’t come true though...

7. Emilie Autumn and her Bloody Crumpets.
Especially the Crumpets^^ I’ve finally been to Antwerp to see EA live last week, and to say it was amazing would be an understatement. Even though the show could use some more… energy at some times, the parts where it didn’t really make up for it. I’ve never been to a show that was funnier, crazier and allover more amicable than this one. I love Emilie and I love her little Crumpets. I also love the key necklace by Veronica Varlow that I bought =).

8. THIS optical illusion.
I never really cared much about optical illusions, but with all the natural disasters that our world had to cope with lately, I thought this one was rather nice, and original. I found the photo on facebook, but no one mentioned the artist on there, so please, if you know who made this, let me know so I can credit him the way he/she deserves!.

9. Jan Praet, van rebel tot rover.
Another historical twitch to this blog (I’m in my element today, hmmmm?), but I love old legends and myths, and this book is based upon the legend of a Belgian robber named Jan Praet. This fictional work tells us the (imaginative) story of his childhood and youth, and why he became what everyone still knows him as nowadays. So yeah, that (the fact that the story interested me) and the fact that I thought the book had a nice cover photo, made me randomly buy the book. (for 2.99 euros xD)

10. Ambrose Bierce.
Another writer, and yes, from the time of the American Civil War xD. We had to read his short story An Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge for English course and because we also had to look up extra info about the author it got me back into the Civil War time. Oh what a wonderful time it would’ve been for me to live in… If you temporarily forget that there was a war going on, of course…

Okay so... Because the plans I had with doing something 'new' didn't really work out because I was too tired and ill, I'm thinking about just picking up on what I did before again... would anyone mind a new series of '10 things I liked this week'??
I'm sorry for keeping people excited about the new thing while eventually it never happened... I might do it somewhere in the future, but I don't really see it happening any time soon...

Then, I want to keep you updated on bands I've seen live, so I could just copy and paste my list again, or I can tell you which ones are added to the list and post it again in a while, once there are a few more names on it.
So I deciced on the second option.
As told, I went to see All-American Rejects, with support by American Steel and The Upwelling.
Later on, I also went to The Night Of The Proms, where I saw Roxette, OMD, Sharon den Adel (of Within Temptation), Peter & Zoltan Katona (guitar-playing twins), Toots Thielemans, John Miles (again, I forgot to add him before, but I went to the Proms a few years ago too), Fine Fleur and Il Novecento.
As said when I mentioned John Miles, I forgot to add the bands I saw at my first Night of the Proms (in 2002), so I'm going to add these here too.
Il Novecento, Fine Fleur, David Garrett (playing some damn good violin songs), Simple Minds, Foreigner, The Pointer Sisters, Michael McDonald, Rob De Nijs and of course John Miles.
Maybe with all of those, I'll have a few extra bands in common with my dear friend Wesley...
Too add up to that, I'm going to see All Time Low (with unknown support up to now), Fightstar, InMe, Emilie Autumn, AFI, Pennywise, Agnostic Frost, The Bouncing Souls, Zebrahead and Dance Gavin Dance soon. So excited!
There might also be some local/unknown bands during the holidays, so we'll see about that... I'll keep you updated! :p

And then, an update about my life... apart from the gigs. (Now how's that possible, you ask? Well, just do as I do and talk about the gigs first :p)
I'm still not well, even though I am going to school again and liking it pretty much. (I do have to double my year though, since I didn't go for over half a year last year...) I've got the most amazing people in my class and we have a lot of fun together.
One of them, Sofie, whom I already knew from last year, is even coming really close to being one of my closer friends, since I tend to hang out with her a lot lately, we go to gigs together (oh here we go again) and we share a lot of opinions about stuff.
During the Holidays, my great Norwegian friend Pål is coming over, which I am very excited about... I've been missing him for way too long now :p
I love him, really.
Other holiday plans are: A lot of shopping (presents and clothing), a lot of partying (with family, but also with friends), a lot of chillaxing at home and a lot of just random moments, probably. I'd also like to go to the seaside for at least one day... maybe I could take Pål with me?

I think that's about it...
if I get too bored during my upcoming exams (Tue Dec 1 - Tue Dec 15) I'll see what the answers to my blogs question tell me and I might just start right away. Unless all of you tell me you don't want it back, of course, then I'll find something different.

it's been ages since I've been on here... or anywhere, for that matter...

So, short update about my life...
- I've continued being ill, which is also the main reason why I haven't really updated anymore lately.
The specialised doc I went to, didn't know what is the matter with me either, so I still have no clue whatsoever about what's wrong.
- Me and Pieter are still very happy together, thank you.
- I'm bored as hell, since I can't go to school... so I'm planning a new blog post, similar to the '10 things...' ones I did before... [or at least, that's what I'm planning it to be, it might come out entirely different, though]
And maybe I'll pick up on those too, eventually...

So stay tuned!

I'm putting some new things on my myspace and vampirefreaks profile...
as in...
I want you people to tell me what you think and how you feel about me, so I can post those little thingies on my profile...
That way people don't only get to see what I tell them about myself, but also what other people think...

Hello you lovely people...
I know it hasn't been exactly one week, but I decided to make these ones during the weekend from now on, 'cause of the obvious reason of time.
Anyway,I've been going to school for an entire week now...
It has been exhausting, but good I guess.
And I had the most amazing time yesterday, shopping with Gaël and Pieter(a little bit) and going to the cinema with Pieter in the evening. I loved that amazing company and the fun stuff we did.
Anyway, here's my latest top 10^^:

1. Groezrock.
I am getting so excited about it now. All the names are announced and me and Gaël got our tickets yesterday. I'm seeing some really amazing people again... [like Michael and Tom] It's going to be soooo amazing!

2. Vaudeville Antwerp.
I just got the most amazing summer dress there yesterday and it's basically a really cool shop with friendly people in it.

3. Neon orange nail polish.
This isn't really the one I got, but more the one I want. I love flashy colours lately.

4. Tell All Your Friends.
I got the special edition of this amazing Taking Back Sunday album yesterday and I love it.

5. Hey Julie.
I heard this song by Fountains of Wayne a few days ago, and even though I have had it on CD for ages, I really listened to it for the first time then and I think I just love it. Check the lyrics if you want to know why.

6. Hot Topic.
It makes me want to move to the USA. The shop just has the most amazing clothes and acessories. I want to shop there.

7. CDs.
I don't know why, I just love CDs. I get this amazing feeling when I can say I bought an album in a shop and didn't download it (even when it's legal).

8. Skelanimals.
They are just the cutest little things ever. And I ~~want~~ need more.

9. Rock Sound magazine.
My favourite magazine. It always has the most amazing interviews, posters and new music in it. Deffo check it out!

10. Sour candy.
Just not the ones Matthias sold me. xD.

Ten things I liked most on my birthday. ++ update thingy

I know it's been ages since I've made one, but I've been kind of very ill and didn't really feel like doing an effort as big as this [I got tired of the least]
But I'm feeling better now so here's the update^^
Anyway... lots has happened though.
Me and Sam broke up again, because he wanted to believe people who don't even know me over believing me, telling the truth. And it just didn't work anymore.
Point, final.

Then there was my birthday last weekend.
I just wanted to start this up again, so I'm making a top ten about that weekend lol.
I feel OOOOOOOLD now.
So yeah, here we go:

1. Teddy Scares.
As some of you may know, I have an obsession with dead teddy bears. I got a new Teddy Scare with my birthday money. Her name is Rita Mortis and she's amazing. She's the first TS I'd ever heard of so I'm pretty proud to have her in my collection too now. Fuck yeah.

2. Live in Chicago.
This live Panic at the Disco DVD has more on it than just the show. I love the tour diary bit and the amazingly awesome videos. Me and my best friend Sarah have been watching part of it together [one part when I was ill, another one on my birthday^^] I'm addicted to Panic. Honestly.

3. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.
I told you people I got Twilight and New Moon for Christmas, also from Sarah. This time, for my bday, she bought the following books in the series. I went 'yay'.

4. Sony Ericsson W350i.
I needed a new cell, because my other one was basically falling apart. So I bought this one with some of the money I got for my birthday. I plays music and well yeah. Nothing very fancy, but all I need. It's very white though. LOL.

5. Birthday wishes.
I just love it when people wish me a happy birthday. Especially when they are people I don't even know very well. And on cards. Lol.

6. Friends.
Hanging around with some of the most amazing people I know during my birthday weekend is just brilliant.

7. Néonatura by Yves Rocher.
I guess I have to say it's the best perfume I've had in a few years. Birthday present from Mathy, whom I love :).

8. Architecture In Helsinki - The Owls Go.
One of the coolest songs I've heard in some time. Even cooler when you act silly on it. [aka dancing with teddy bears on the song] lol.

9. Kiddy make up.
I just really over the tope make up. Think something like this: Ryan Ross. Now you could go to a specialised make up shop, for theatre make up and stuff, which I also do sometimes, but for starters or just an addition in colours, children's make up is definately good enough too. And this children's make up is amazing to do it with, since it's very easy to clean and it hardly ever gives an allergic reaction. It's even more amazing when your dad gives you two packs of it because he agrees. lol.

10. Alvin and the Chipmunks.
And then especially comparing the old series to the new film, and then showing the grandparents what you're actually talking about by putting on the 'FunkyTown' bit from the film. While that original song is playing on the radio at the same time. Classic times.

Hey lovely people,
I just want to get this thingy updated
I haven't really been doing a lot lately, so I haven't found things to write about in my '10 things I liked most' blogs. Reason for this is that I've been ill since about a month ago. I'm exhausted and the doctors can't find a reason. I hope it all goes well from now, but I'm not really sure about it...
Me and Sam also broke up again. He seemed to rather believe lies that random people told about me than the truth coming from me.

The most amazing film I've seen this week, involving very serious stuff, which I'm not usually into very much, but I really liked it.

5. London Bus - toy car.
Lode is just overcute when he plays with his toy cars, and the little red bus is his favourite.

6. THIS photo of Ben Barnes.
Ben just has the cutest smile ever on it!

7. Food colouring.
They just brighten up my bakings!

8. Pizza Hut.
Their pizzas have such good crusts!

9. Wikipedia.
One of the most useful websites ever to find out minor details about things you didn't even need to know... Also referring to urbandictionary.com lol.

10. Chess boards.
Don't ask me why, I just like the way some of them can give me this enchanted feeling, as if they were from another world...

PLUS.
greatest disappointment of the week:
Napoleon Dynamite.
I really don't see what everyone seems to like about it that much.
Maybe my expectations were too high to start with, but I still didn't like it all that much.

10 things I liked most this week...?

this is my very own HOLIDAY SPECIAL!!!
I guess every one of you lovely people celebrated Christmas with family, friends, yummy food and loooooots of presents, so here are my top 15 presents and thingies of 2008's holidays!

1. Twilight and New Moon
I had already read both books, but now I finally got them as a present from my best friend, who is really very amazing! I love them! and her!

2. Stardust.
I honestly just think this is an amazing film and I was VERY happy when I got it on DVD as a gift from my grandma.

3. Across the Universe
The Beatles are really one of those bands that made an impact on me in my life. Their songs have helped me through some difficult times like hardly any other band would've been able to... Then suddenly, there's this musical with basically only Beatles' songs... and I got it for Christmas too. [I know, I basically only got books and DVDs for Christmas.]

4. The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
I honestly don't care about the people who say that JK Rowling is a greedy b*tch for getting this published, because I think it's a really lovely book with lovely fairy tales in it. Besides, it's for charity. Also a Christmas present^^

5. Cupcake Magic.
A present from a great new friend I got to know in 2008. It's a cookbook which basically only has cupcake recipes, but it's really amazing. And so are the cupcakes I've made with those recipes. I believe Kate Shirazi is a wonderful cook. LOL.

6. My new corset.
Haaaah I just love corsets... but this one was really cool to buy too because there were some friends of mine with me that day that I hadn't seen in quite a long time and we had so much fun! Pieter, Côzmo, Claire, K'vin & Nico... I love you sexypeeps! <3.

7. Brisingr.
Christopher Paolini is the MAN dude! I'd already read it, but this Christmas I finally got my own copy of Brisingr so that my book beam no longer has that empty spot next to Eragon and Eldest anymore.

8. Hairspray.
One of the feel good films I've seen during my weeks off 'cause of the holidays... I got it from my bestie K'vin, and even though I didn't really think it was going to be exactly what I expect [or more: like] in films, I thought it was a really nice film!

9. The Sound of Music and Home Alone.
Or more: watching those all time Christmas classics, that I always watched when I was little, again. With the family. And friends. :)

10. Snow.
Even though the snow didn't really start falling until after the holiday, it's still nice to have snow in this little country for almost a week. As the Belgians on here will confirm, we don't really get a lot of snow, and certainly not for this long.

11. Money.
I guess you'll all have to agree with me on this. Christmas is a nice holiday for your bank account too. And I do know this top number might come over a bit greedy, but aren't we all happy when we get some money for 'nothing'?

12. Neil Cicierega.
He's just this amazing guy who made me laugh this vacation.

13. De 4 Bollekes.
It's a shop where you can buy sweets and pasta and things like that, but all in really original packings and things like that. It's really nice and if you'd ever get to Heist, you'd really have to go check it out.

14. Starbook.
A book by Ben Okri. I think it's going to be a really good book, even though I have only just started reading...

15. Sandeman.
Not because I'm an alcoholic, but because I bought a bottle of Sandeman Porto for my grandpa, whom I basically only see two or three times a year. We talked about Mr. Sandman [by The Andrews Sisters] too because of it and we had a nice time.

Wolf...

So...
I've been having this 'weird' dream lately...
I'll just write it out here I guess...

It basically starts with me walking through a forrest...On a certain moment, I have no idea where to go anymore, so I figure I'm lost and want to go back to where I started, so I can ask someone how to get to where I have to be there...So I walk back for a while, but suddenly arrive at a glade where I hadn't been before... The trees are in a nice circle and there is a fire burning, so I figure there must have been someone who lit the fire and I decide to wait for that person to show up.

But I keep on waiting and noone arrives. By that time it's already dark and I just sit there and wait. But suddenly something scares me and I 'wake up' again [as in... not thinking to myself anymore], seeing my friend Wolf right in front of me...Wolf takes both of my hands in his and pulls me along, not saying a word.Normally I would be totally scared, but I have this strange feeling with Wolf, that I feel really safe when I'm with him... [btw: I have no idea whether I really feel that when I'm with Wolf... I've never really been in a situation like this with him (or anyone else for that matter), but I do know I feel comfortable when I'm with him... now back to the dream...] So he pulls me back into the forrest, but doesn't say a thing...

Because I have no idea where we're going, I ask "Wolf, where are you leading me to?", but he doesn't answer... so I ask again and again...He never answers, so I basically stop and yell "Niels, where are we going?!?" [Wolf's really Niels' second name... well, Wolfram is, but everyone calls him Wolf cause he doesn't really like Niels.] Then he stops and says "It's not safe there. Come." and he takes my hands again, but much more gently this time and he softly pulls me along again... so I just follow him until he stops at a huge tree... and he steps into that tree and pulls me in with him, since he's still holding my hands...

So we are in the tree, and there's this tunnel... but then Wolf blindfolds me... but I still feel strangely safe...And he gently takes my hands again and pulls me along again so soflty...When we finally stop walking, he takes off my blindfold and I can see we're in this medieval-ish room... There are old, beautiful chairs and tables and cupboards and stuff... and chandeleers with candles in them and deep red curtain on the walls and the ceiling... Wolf then says "You're safe here." and sits down.I do the same, but then notice that I'm really tired [It has been dark for hours now and I've been walking a long time so yeah...] Wolf notices and says "If you want you can sleep there...", while referring to the only bed in the room. "I'll explain everything tomorrow..."So I go to bed and fall asleep hardly a minute later...

When I wake up again, I'm still tired, but I heard voices so I didn't feel safe anymore...When I start listening more closely, I can hear Wolf and someone else. "She is the one we have been waiting for... Your opinion about her was right... Congratulations!" "Thank you, but what shall we do now?" "Now, we just have to convince her to come home with us... then everything will finally be alright. Just go to bed too now, catch some sleep... But remember... even when I'm not here I still see and hear everything, so don't get on to anything..." "Of course not, master." So then Wolf comes over to the bed and crawls in with me. I feel a bit weird, but still pretend that I'm asleep, even though I must be shaking so hard he simply HAS to notice...

Apparently he does, 'cause he turns around and puts his arm around me.The moment he does that, there's this loud BANG and I hear the same voice as before..."What did I tell you, Wolf? You can't interfere with her more than absolutely necessary!" Wolf basically jumped out of the bed. "I'm sorry master, but her body was trembling so hard I couldn't bare not comforting her..." "Still, you cannot interfere with the personal properties of the Great Master." "But she's my friend..." "Not anymore she is... She now belongs to Him and you can't change that anymore..." "But..." "There's no but anymore!" "Then I leave!" "Go on then, but you leave her here..." "No way!"

and then I woke up...Well I basically woke up every time I let some more space between two parts... but then the next night I started by skipping a part at the beginning and well basically getting more every night...
It seems so weirdAnd I think I'm going to have this dream more, since I don't think it's over yet...

Well anyway... If anyone would know what it could mean, let me know...And I'll keep you guys in touch about how it goes on... cos actually I kinda like the story... lol

I’d like to start a blog here…And since music is basically my life… I’m pretty sure it’s gonna deal about that a lot…

To start with I would like to name a few songs that have made last year possible for me.
I don’t want to make a technical summary of how they were made, this songs and bands have just played a part in my life and I want to share that with you.
Without some of those songs, I would’ve been dead. Without some others, I wouldn’t have met some of the most amazing people I know. Some others are just amazing songs to me…

So… let’s start then…

First of all I’d like to name Punk Rock Princess by Something Corporate.
This is a song that always makes me think of my best friend, Siebe, who has sadly passed away a few months ago. He was always there when I needed him and he is one of the main reasons I am still alive today. Ironically, he has taken his own life without anyone being able to do anything about it. I always cry when I hear this song. For me and Sieb, it’s a love song, a song that contains all of our love for each other. Forever.

Second, there is Coin-Operated Boy, by the Dresden Dolls.
This is also a song of me and a friend. K’vin. We sing it all the time, everywhere we go.
People stare at us and we love it. Yes, We are attention whores. When we sing.
Also, this is just an amazing song. For the people who haven’t noticed. Listen to the lyrics. They’re not about a boy. Lol.

Teenage Queen. By Aiden.
I just love Aiden. This is one of the first bands that have saved my live with their music several times. I’ve seen them perform a few times now and they’ve never let me down. Plus, I've made tons of friends during their gigs... Christof, Faina, Jef, Ann, wiL, Angel... [Groezrock, Taste Of Chaos... and seeing them again soon!]
Teenage Queen is just a great song. When it gets into my head, it sometimes doesn’t leave it for days. I agree that Aiden has made better songs and that I can tell a lot more about them… but this song is really a catchy one to me and it hasn’t left my mp3-player since I first put it on there.

Oh, It Is Love by Hellogoodbye.
I basically love all Hellogoodbye songs, but when I heard this one live and acoustic, my heart just started pounding like it never had before because of a song.
It’s such a sweet lovesong and I can never get enough of it.
While typing this, I also want to thank one of my best friends, Gaël, for getting up so early on the last day of Pukkelpop to see them with me. You’re amazing.

Every single song by Enter Shikari.
They’re the band I’ve seen most last year [Groezrock, Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop twice]. They are so amazing, both live and on CD.
They also have a very special place in my heart, cause I got to know them through Trevor Abbott, this amazing guy from the UK. He once told me to listen to their songs and then send me some of them.
I loved them from the start, when no one here in Belgium even knew them, and to be honest, I’m kinda proud of that.
Don’t tell anyone ;)
Oh and I also freaked out [imagine screaming your heart out whilst jumping up and down for 10 minutes] when I saw Trev, Calum and Zach on the DVD!!!

Ruby [Kaiser Chiefs], Fairytale Gone Bad [Sunrise Avenue], Yesterday’s Feelings [The Used] and Old Whore’s Diet [Rufus Wainwright].
These songs where ‘one’ of the two things that made my vacation in Germany ok. The other was the fact that my cousin was there too.
It was the most boring vacation I’ve ever been on. My parents and aunt/uncle rented a house in a town where there was NOTHING to do. There was this kids’ playground thing with a swing, which was basically the only thing me and Jill ever went to. To then lay in the middle of the street for about an hour and taking photos.
These songs [first two playing on the radio, last two on my mp3-player] where really the songs that I heard at least thrice a day that week. [10 days actually…]
Boring vacation, but good company and music.

To keep talking about Rufus Wainwright, I also love ‘La Complainte De La Butte’. It’s a song from the soundtrack of ‘Moulin Rouge’ and I am in love with it. Though I don’t really like French, I really love this song, and I’m amazed by the fact that he speaks English and has such an amazing French voice in this song.
After I’d heard this song a few years ago [during the film], I started searching it, and in the beginning of 2007 I finally found it. Since then, I’ve developped an addiction to the song.
I’ve seen Wainwright play live on Rock Werchter in June too, and I was so freaked out when I heard him play the only French song he did that day, cause it was La Complainte De La Butte. [He has a few other French ones too.]
You should definately check this one out!

Not Good Enough For Truth Or Cliche, by Escape The Fate.
First of all, this band is amazing. This song is just one of the best, catchiest, amazing songs I’ve heard in a long time. Also, the video to it is beautiful. I remember that, at first, I couldn’t understand the lyrics. I didn’t understand what they sang lol. But a bit later I started listening to it again, and it really got to me that I was so wrong not listening to it.
It’s really one of my fave songs of 2007.

Think Of Me by Emmy Rossum, from the Phantom of the Opera.
I just love this song cause I learned this year that I can actually sing it. Not even off key.

Our Love = Strong.
This song by The Van Jets is just a really fun song, and I have great memories of it. When me and my friends were on Belgian national radio [www.stubru.be] one day to sing in the studio, The Van Jets were there too, also to perform a song. Our Love was their latest single back then and we met them and we became friends after that. Johannes and Wolf even kinda got us backstage on a festival they played.
Lol.

Stigmatized, a wonderful song by The Calling.
This will always be one of my favourite songs. It is on the first full album I ever bought of my own money, and I still love the entire album to death.

From First To Last… Goodbye Waves.
One of the most beautiful songs ever. The music is just so different from the other FFTL songs, and I love them all very much. Still, Goodbye Waves is something different and worth mentioning.
Halflife by Lacuna Coil.
Actually I loved this song for years, but I’ve seen Lacuna Coil live this year on Pukkelpop, for the first time, and they were really good.
So yeah…

The Last Song, by The All-American Rejects.
This song was also a song that I re-discovered by seing the band live with friends of mine [Gaïa and Stijn]. This song was such an amazing version and I basically gave everything I had in me during the gig. AAR is so funny, sweet, amazing and their music is just great. One of the best performanced I’ve seen last year.

London Bridge
This has been my song when I was in London with school. We passed London Bridge Station every morning and evening, and while everyone got stuck with Fergie’s London Bridge, I had the amazing MSI one inside my head.
Oh how I was happy.

The New Transmission [Lostprophets] and Flogging Molly –songs.
During a barbecue this summer, I’ve met an amazing guy called Ortwin. He’s so funny, really nice and we lvoe each other. [As friends lol… though I wouldn’t… uhm yeah]
We played some of his CDs during a bbq with us and 20 metalheads. Kinda funny. We got drunk on Jägermeister that night. He had to leave though, once he threw up in the tent…
But he’s been here [my house] a few times and we’ve hung out a lot and I’m so glad I’ve met him.

I Think I Like You by The Black Box Revelation.
The song is pretty good, but what I actually want to mention is the video. It’s filmed in a tunnel, under the Schelde in Antwerp, where me and a few friends slept/spend the night apparently the day before they shot the video.
I just thought that was so funny.

Some song by Björk, on which I met my amazing friend Bavo Claes.
I don’t like Björks music but whenever I hear that song [of which I really don’t even know the title] I have to think of him and all of the amazing times we’ve had since we’ve met at the end of June.

Tunak Tunak Tun. [Daler Mehndi]
Lol. This Indian song always cheers me up, even when I’m really depressed. It’s so energetic and I actually love the fact that I can act crazy on it. Just amazing song that I knew from parties and that I got from my amazing friend Gaël.

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, I Am The Walrus, … by The Beatles.
I would actually lie if I say the only had a thing to do with me in 2007. Ever since I discovered music, I’ve been in love with The Beatles. But at the end of 2006, I met a guy who shares my love. We’ve had great discussions about The Beatles, [well… basically they always started with The Beatles… where they ended… no one knows…] which I totally adore about him.
Wesley Lorne Douglas Burton, this one is for you.

And then, last, but certainly not least... a dedication to the one and only band that has been so warm, caring, sweet and basically amazing to me last year; For All The Autumn Lies.
I already knew my friends Jason and Dan through MySpace, so when I heard they started a new band, I immediately added them. From the first time I head A Fashion Statement, my heart and soul were sold. I just had to love them.
Now, I’ve already met them, made amazing new friends through them and made me really happy when I was immensly depressed by mentioning me in their band blog.
They are amazing and I want to thank them for the part they have already played in my life.
Also one of the band without whom I wouldn’t be here anymore.
